HP Offers WebOS Being Open-Source Software


HP offers webOS Being open-source software : Any Developer is offered to use and modify the webOS mobile software available as open-source software by the Technology company Hewlett-Packard. With this huge offer more mobile phone apps will be available to developed by providing it to open source community.Hewlett-Packard says announced on Friday that they are considering to develop and support webOS. This is according to the news sources the most expensive effort of the techology world. In 2010 The HP snagged the intuitive webOS software as it was the time when it paid $1.8 billion for Palm Inc. And in what became a failed effort to revive the flailing smartphone pioneer.The software's future has been uncertain since August, when HP said it would stop making tablet computers and smartphones.

Hewlett-Packard Co. said Friday that it's making its webOS mobile system available as open-source software that anyone can use and modify freely.HP still planes to develop and support webOS.The webOS software has multitasking capabilities and the fecility to view open apps as "cards" which can be slid on the screen.It has ability to dismiss by flick and can be enlarged by a tap.The webOS software was first release on the Palm Pre smartphone in 2009 and after this on many smartphones. HP on the other hand used it on the Touchpad table computer.This offer will give rise to the idea of other consumer-electronics manufacturers to make devices that use the software.

HP snagged webOS when it bought flailing smartphone pioneer Palm Inc. in 2010. The software's future has been uncertain since August, when HP said it would stop making tablet computers and smartphones.HP Decision is being called creative by Forrester Research analyst Frank Gillett. He is of the veiw that companies would have been interested in buying webOS from HP.WebOS ran on several smartphones, and in July HP released a tablet called the TouchPad that also ran it. But the devices never caught on with consumers, many of whom were more enticed by Apple Inc.'s iPhone and iPad and smartphones running Google Inc.'s Android software.
